The Clouser Minnow Just a lil FYI most that use these already know . The Clouser Minnow was invented by Bob Clouser as a smallmouth bass pattern. It imitates a baitfish and is killer for bonefish, bass, pike, trout etc. The lead eyes give the fly a jigging motion when retrieved and invert the fly so it doesn’t snag on the bottom like other heavily weighted patterns. I tie my own versions of these fish favorites. My mackerel pattern is my personal favorite. All my Clouser Minnow flies are tied on chemically sharpened saltwater hooks ,featured size 2/0. These are great patterns for fresh and saltwater bass. BASS FRESH & SALWATER LOVE CLOUSERS! Bass are a top notch game fish. Catching them on a flyrod adds even more challenge to America's favorite sportfish. Bass are an unconventional species when fly fishing is concerned. We often see fly anglers go after trout, and trout are often kept in mind when designing typical fly patterns. Nevertheless, if your goal is to catch bass while experiencing fly fishing give clousers a try .
